About us
Our Family:
Hello, I am Jamison and I want to thank you for taking the time to check out my site. So, to give you a little background on my family. I have an amazing wife, Jamie, that is not only my best friend but the best mother I could ask for my children. Brayden is our energetic little boy that came into this world on July 20th 2011. He is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to us and continues to surprise us each and every day. Now, as of March 5th 2014 we have a beautiful little girl, Madison. As cute as she it, I’m sure she will be incredibly spoiled by loving family and friends.
Where I came from:
A little background on me, I grew up in a small town on the eastern shore of Maryland called Pocomoke City. After graduating high school I moved on to Daytona Beach where I earned my degree in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After college graduation I landed a job with Gulfstream Aerospace as a Flight Test Mechanical Design Engineer in Savannah Georgia. Recently, I have taken a leap of faith and gone full time with the Rogue Engineer website and relocated just outside of Ann Arbor MI to be near family.
Why I Build:
So how did I get into building things you ask? Well, I have always enjoyed working with wood and building things, although I have never been all that good at it. Until one day in 2013. We had just finished having a screen room added on and needed furniture. A lot of the furniture we were looking at was ridiculously priced and rather simple design. Having this “I can build that!” attitude, I could see my wife rolling her eyes from the other room. But, I was determined. After some research, I settled on a plan from Ana-White. And wah-lah, there it was, a beautiful Belvedere Lounge Chair that looked like it was straight fromRestoration Hardware. My wife and I were very surprised how well it turned out.
I learned a very valuable lesson that day. Have a plan, and follow it. My problem before was that I always shot from the hip, resulting in a less that perfect product. SO, using the 3D modeling expertise I have from my engineering background, from now on when I build something I vow to come up with a beautiful design first and then provide the most accurate and easy to understand plans so that everyone else can enjoy, not only the result of building a fine piece of furniture, but the journey of how it came to be.
Cheers!
Jamison
